RNT Names Joe Grzyb CEO to Support Commercial Production of Patented NanoFoil®
Hunt Valley, MD – November, 2004
Reactive NanoTechnologies, Inc. (RNT), which develops and manufactures its patented NanoFoil® to precisely control the instantaneous release of heat energy for reaction initiation and joining applications, announces the appointment of Joseph A. Grzyb as Chief Executive Officer. With over 22 years of experience leading, managing, and growing leading-edge semiconductor organizations, Mr. Grzyb provides critical expertise to support the commercial expansion of RNT’s technology across a variety of markets.
“RNT’s technology is clearly a huge step forward in advancing reaction initiation and joining applications far beyond the capabilities offered by existing technologies,” noted Grzyb. “I am excited to join an already strong team and use my experience to further NanoFoil® technology’s speedy and efficient drive into the marketplace.”
In the eight years prior to joining RNT, Grzyb was with RF Micro Devices, the world’s leading provider of power amplifiers to the cellular industry, where he was most recently General Manager of its largest division. He has also held senior operating and executive positions with responsibility for overall P&L, strategy, marketing, engineering, product management and business development.
Timothy P. Weihs, Ph.D. will move from the CEO position to assume the duties of Chief Technical Officer. “We are tremendously excited to bring someone of Joe’s talent and energy level into our organization. Joe’s experience in managing rapidly growing companies will be invaluable as we transfer this technology out of the lab and into the market,” stated Weihs. Grzyb’s joining the company is part of a wider campaign RNT is initiating to prepare for commercial expansion of its NanoFoil® product. In addition to bringing on a number of other key executives, the company is also building a manufacturing facility in Maryland and expanding distribution channels for the technology.
About RNT
Headquartered in Hunt Valley, Maryland, RNT was founded in 2001 by engineering veterans Timothy P. Weihs, Ph.D., who now serves as Chief Technical Officer, and Omar M. Knio, Ph.D., who is RNT’s Senior Vice President. The company develops and manufactures NanoFoil® to precisely control the instantaneous release of heat energy for reaction initiation and joining applications that current technology can not effectively or economically address. RNT has also developed its patented NanoBond® joining process to ensure the benefits of NanoFoil® are maximized.
Commercial distribution of NanoFoil® for energetics and joining applications is taking place from RNT’s onsite manufacturing machinery. The company is utilizing its financial backing from a variety of sources – including over $4.5 million in grants from the National Science Foundation – to develop additional manufacturing sites and craft its patented technology for additional applications. RNT has also signed licensing agreements with a number of Fortune 500 Companies. . Its breakthrough technology has earned several prestigious awards including the 2005 “R&D 100” from R&D Magazine, the 2005 Nano 50™ from NASA Nanotech Briefs Magazine and recognition in The National Nanotechnology Initiative Strategic Plan in December 2004.
